U.S. Citizen Services Outreach Program

On a regular basis a representative of the U.S. Consulate General Amsterdam will visit locations in the Consular District to provide consular services to American citizens for whom traveling to Amsterdam is difficult. The representative is authorized to:

  • accept passport applications
  • accept applications for extra visa pages
  • register children for U.S. citizenship
    (Consular Report of Birth Abroad)
  • provide notarial services
  • provide voter registration information
  • provide forms to apply for a social security number or to replace a social security card.

Please note that we can only provide these American citizen services. Visa applications cannot be processed away from the Consulate General in Amsterdam.

During the last three years we have provided Consular services (passport applications, registration of births abroad, and notarial services) outside the Consulate General, in Limburg, Zuid-Holland, Noord-Brabant and Groningen.

We will now be visiting:

—Maastricht: March 31, from 3:30 to 7:00 PM (For reasons beyond our control and much to our regret, we have had to cancel the Maastricht event this time. We hope to come to Maastricht later this year.)

—American School in The Hague, Wassenaar: April 14, from 1:00 to 5:00 PM
Fully booked, no more appointment slots available.

—Groningen: April 21, from 3:30 to 7:00 PM

If you would like to attend, please send us an e-mail to register, providing:

  1. your name;
  2. contact details;
  3. the services required
  4. the number of persons coming to the appointment.

We will send you information about the exact location of the event closer to the relevant date.  Please ensure you have read the requirements for each service and bring all required original documents, as well as a photocopy of each document.

Please send your registration e-mail to: AmsterdamOutreach@state.gov,

Click on the links below for details related to each service.  All payments must be done by credit card – no cash can be accepted away from the Consulate.  Also, please note that no visa services will be provided.

Appointments: Our website instructions insist you make an appointment through a special website. This is only for visiting the Consulate in Amsterdam. For outreach events, please ignore that instruction as you are making your appointment by sending us an e-mail to AmsterdamOutreach@state.gov.

Payment of fees: As we are not authorized to accept cash away from the Consulate payments can be effected by credit card only(Mastercard, Visa, Discover, American Express, or Diner's Club). Our consular fees information and instructions page has an overview of the current fees for the available services. Here you will also find a downloadable credit card payment sheet that you can download and present with your application.

These events are possible due to the support of our hosts, who may be businesses or private individuals.  If you are interested in hosting a consular outreach visit in the future (we already have hosts for the ones listed above) please contact us at:

AmsterdamOutreach@state.gov .

Please bear in mind that the venue should not be in the greater Amsterdam region.  We are looking for sufficient space for meeting with 20-30 attendees, a separate waiting area for privacy and access to a copying machine.  We look forward to receiving your e-mails!
