(return to steps)                                                                            (proceed to step 7)

You will need an appointment to enter the Consulate General in Amsterdam to apply for your visa.  There is no walk-in visa service.*

—How to set up your Amsterdam Visa Appointment

Non-immigrant visa application appointments can only be scheduled through our call center.

You can call, from anywhere in the world, Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (CET)

Have pen, paper, your passport and your credit card ready. Then call:

31(0)20-794 0808

The operator will ask you for the credit card information.  If you do not have a credit card, please have a friend or family member who does, set up the appointment for you.  Your passport information is required to make the appointment.  There is a 15 euro fee for each call.

Should you not be able to find the answers you were looking for on the website, 020-794 0808 is also the number to call for information.  Write your questions down and don't call until you are ready to set up your appointment.  This way you can get your questions answered and your appointment arranged with a single call.

Appointments are available on an expedited basis for individuals with urgent business or student travel needs. If your business or student travel needs are urgent please mention this to the call center operator

In addition, if you are applying for a petition-based visa (L, H, or P) or a student visa (F, J or M) and have an urgent travel need which the call center can not assist you with, you have the option of requesting a visa interview in Brussels where you may be able to get an earlier appointment than in Amsterdam. The visa interviews in Brussels will be scheduled by our call center at 31(0)20-794 0808. Please note that the U.S. Embassy in Brussels requires you to either pick up your visa in person, two to three days after the interview, or have it mailed to an address in Belgium.

Changing or Canceling your appointment

Re-scheduling or canceling non-immigrant visa appointments free of charge.  Phone the call center at 31(0)20-794-0808 and mention the confirmation number you received for your initial appointment.  Please note that the call center does not have the necessary resources to answer visa-related questions when you are calling back to cancel or reschedule.  The U.S. Consulate does its best to keep the website up-to-date.  The answers to most of your questions can be found online.  The Consular Officer will also be happy to address any concerns that you have at the visa interview.  Each and every visa application is dealt with on a case-by-case basis.

- WHERE TO APPLY? -

Can I apply in Amsterdam if I am not living in The Netherlands?

Yes, but applicants from outside The Netherlands should be aware that language difficulties and interviewing officers' unfamiliarity with local conditions in other countries may make it more difficult to demonstrate your qualifications for a visa here than in your home district or at a post designated for your application.

Please see our FAQ on this subject.
