U.S. Citizen Emergency Services

American citizens visiting or residing in The Netherlands should note that the emergency number for the Dutch police, rescue, and fire departments is 1-1-2.

When Americans need emergency assistance from the U.S. Government during regular office hours (8:30 am - 5:00 pm) , they should phone the American Consulate General, Museumplein 19, 1071 DJ Amsterdam, at 020-575-5309.

When Americans need emergency assistance from the U.S. Government outside regular office hours, they should phone  070-310-2209.
This is also the number to call for emergencies during business hours on the last Wednesday of each month when the Consulate General is closed to the public. 

Call Center
The U.S. Department of State has a call center which provides information on worldwide situations, which may effect American Citizens. They also provide general information.

Operators are available Monday through Friday: 8 AM to 8 PM, EST, and during crisis situations: 24 hours a day.
