Non-Immigrant Frequently Asked Questions
Fees How do I pay the application fee? I paid the application fee, but decided not to apply, can I get my money back? My application was refused. Why can't I get my money back? Before I applied for the visa, I paid a fee into the bank. Why am I being asked to pay an additional fee? I paid the reciprocity fee to ABN-AMRO Bank. Can I get my money back? Why is the reciprocity fee more/less than my friend's fee? What is a SEVIS Fee and how do I pay it?
How do I pay the application fee? The application fee of € 80 can be paid at ABN AMRO account number 51.54.83.184. Please note that no refunds will be made for fees that are transferred incorrectly. The application fee is non-refundable; no refund will be made if the visa is denied or if the applicant decides not to pursue an application. The original fee receipt must be presented when the visa application is submitted at the Consulate. The application may also be paid by Dutch PIN card at the time of the appointment. I paid the application fee, but decided not to apply, can I get my money back? Once you have paid the money at ABN- AMRO Bank, it CANNOT be refunded, even if you subsequently decide for any reason whatsoever, not to apply. My application was refused. Why can't I get my money back? The fee that you paid is an application fee. Everyone who applies for a U.S. visa, anywhere in the world, must pay this fee, which covers the cost of adjudicating your application. As the application form states, this fee is non-refundable regardless of whether or not you are issued a visa. If your application was refused under Section 214(b) and you choose to reapply for a visa, whether at this Consulate General or elsewhere, you will be required to pay the application fee again. Before I applied for the visa, I paid a fee into the bank. Why am I being asked to pay an additional fee? All visa applicants are required to pay an application fee, which is charged to cover the costs involved in the processing of a visa application. However, nationals of certain countries are required to pay a reciprocity fee in order for the visa to be issued. These fees reflect the fees charged by the applicant's government for a similar service to a U.S. citizen. To determine whether your nationality is subject to a reciprocity fee, please check the chart found at the State Department website www.travel.state.gov. How must I pay this reciprocity fee? The reciprocity fee must be paid in either cash (U.S. dollars or euros) or credit card at the Consulate at the time of the interview. Please note that this reciprocity fee, unlike the processing fee, is NOT to be paid in advance to ABN-AMRO Bank and PIN cards cannot be accepted to pay reciprocity fees. I paid the reciprocity fee to ABN-AMRO Bank. Can I get my money back? No. Unfortunately, the Consulate General cannot refund reciprocity fees paid in error. Why is the reciprocity fee more/less than my friend's fee? Reciprocity fees are based on nationality and reflect the fees charged by your government for a similar service to an American citizen. Different governments charge different fees and this is reflected in the reciprocity fee which we are asking you to pay. What is a SEVIS Fee and how do I pay it? J, F, and M visa applicants with a Form I-20 and DS-2019 issued after September 1, 2004 are required to pay an additional SEVIS Fee. This is in addition to the application and must be paid prior to the applicant's appointment at the Consulate. Proof of payment of the SEVIS fee is required at the time of appointment. More...
