Consul General Ruterbories speaks out against violence toward women

December 2, 2010 - In honor of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (IDEVAW), Consul General Julie A. Ruterbories, spoke at the American Women’s Club of Amsterdam’s (AWCA) Holiday Bazaar. Each year, the AWCA organizes a holiday toy drive for children from across the Province of North Holland who have found refuge in Women’s Shelters run by the “Blijfgroep.” The Consul General highlighted the United States’ commitment to improving the plight of women worldwide and spoke about the 16 days of activism associated with the IDEVAW. The U.S. Mission to the Netherlands is further supporting the Blijfgroep’s efforts by holding its own toy drive to benefit the children in the shelter. For more information on IDEVAW please visit: »
