Passport Applications by Mail
Routine passport renewal for Adults
You may apply for your passport by mail if you meet all of the following requirements:
Your most recent passport was issued when you were 16 years of age or older; and
Your most recent passport was issued within the last 15 years; and
Your most recent passport was not limited, i.e. it was issued for its full ten-year validity; and
You are able to submit the passport with this application; and
You are not requesting a change in the passport data, other than a name change due to marriage or divorce; and
Your mailing address is in The Netherlands.

If you do meet all the conditions above, you are ready to start your passport application by mail:
1. Complete and sign
the DS-82 application form - see our Tips for completing the DS-82 form;
2. Enclose your current passport (If you cannot submit your current passport because you need to keep it for travel purposes you will need to apply in person during our regular hours of operation);
3. Two photos (See our photo specifications pages);
4. Pay the fee by completing and signing the credit card payment form;
5. Enclose a self addressed envelope;
6. Read our Checklist for a successful passport application by mail;
7. Mail your application and supporting documentation to:

Processing time
Passports are printed in the United States with a secure, photo-digitized image of the bearer. You should allow for up to 15 working days for your application to be processed.
If you are traveling within 15 working days and can provide evidence of this travel, you may be eligible for an emergency limited-validity passport. This requires a personal appearance. Please see our section on Imminent Departure.
