Press statement by Mr. Theo Weterings, Manager Dutch Crisis Team

February 26, 2009

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen,

First of all, I want to express my deepest sympathy again to the victims of Turkish Airlines flight TK 1951 and their relatives.

There have been no changes in the number of casualties mentioned yesterday. Of the 134 people on board, including the crew, 9 people have been killed, 121 have been examined or treated in 13 hospitals in the region. 63 people are still being treated in hospitals of whom 6 are still in a critical condition.

The nationalities of all passengers are now known and have been transmitted to the embassies of the countries involved. This list is also available for press and will be issued to you shortly.

The identity of the passenger will not be made public before all relatives have been informed.

From this moment on, there will be only one telephone number available that can be called for information. This is 0900/1852. All questions that are being received by this call center, will be transferred to the right authority.

When you are still looking for relatives or family of the passengers on board, you can call this number.

The number can also be called by people who have information on the accident and who it happened.

The Crisis team has decided to organize a meeting on Saturday next, at 10 AM, for inhabitants of Haarlemmermeer North and of Haarlemmerliede en Spaarnwoude.

In a later stage, also a meeting will be organized for passengers, their family and relatives.

The investigation into the cause of the accident is being conducted under the responsibility of the National Transportation Safety Board and the District attorney’s office. They are not making any announcements at this moment. As this investigation is still going on, passengers cannot get their belongings back that still are on the plane.

Theo Weterings,
Chairman Crisisteam
