A very useful website, offering a personalized checklist on where to go and what to do when settling either temporarily or permanently in the Netherlands, can be found through the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs website. To go directly to this website, click here.

In order to work in The Netherlands one must be in possession of a valid work permit.  This must be obtained from the Center for Work and Income or CWI in the city of your employment.  Please see www.werk.nl for further information.

The U.S. Consulate General has no authority to issue residence and/or work permits in The Netherlands.  Neither can we assist you in the procedure of obtaining permission to stay and/or work in The Netherlands.
